Latin Continuum CD – Lalo Rodrguez’ first solo recording remains his most famous. Most important, his superb collaboration with arranger/musical directors Ray Santos and Louis Garca helped launch a new era in Puerto Rican salsa. All his tunes incredibly manage to shine on their own, which was sort of a rarity in this musical concept. “Mximo Chamorro” is Sylvia D. Gama’s ode to a heroic figure. Another plus of the production is the singer’s showcasing of his songwriting abilities; “Tu No Sabes Querer” and “Las Lujeres” are examples of his romantic posturing. “Francisco Andante” and “Si No Hay Material” are little social speeches.
